Cross Curricular Showcase
Please CLICK on the images for examples of showcase work. Enjoy!
In order to teach the whole child, cross curricular learning must take place. As a student in the Master of Arts in Education program pursuing Literacy Education, I have adapted many lessons to fit into my current Physical Education curriculum. With the use of technology and the goal of increasing student's daily physical activity minutes, this showcase resembles the work I have completed to attain this task. The following links are just some examples of the work I have completed to help children continue learning effective literacy skills while understanding the importance of healthy lifestyles.
Professional Service Projects
Dodgeball for Heart - An Ongoing Event Supporting AHA, Fall 2011
I dedicated my fall student teaching semester to organizing a Dodge-ball for Heart tournament at the middle school level. Students had to advertise, organize and prepare this event with captivating posters in the building including proper spelling and catchy titles. This was acccomplished in TE 802- Reflection and Inquiry of Teaching, Practice I.

Zumba Fitness - Staff Edition, Spring 2012
I created another Professional Service Project at the Elementary level during my student teaching year. This Prezi is an explanation of our service project. In order to reach out to the staff and create a closer community, we incorporated a staff Zumba class that was created and advertised with daily letters, emails, and posters hung throughout the building. This was a requirement for TE 804- Reflection and Inquiry of Teaching, Practice II.

Literacy Through P.E. Content
Poetry Sparking Reading Comprehension, Summer 2012
Specific instruction is needed to accommodate various learners. I worked on reading comprehension one-on-one with a student with autism whom I also swam with and trained in the pool. Here is a poem that helped spark his interest in picture stories. This poem can also be used as an opening activity for students in secondary English. TE 846- Accommodating Differences in Literary Learners helped me organize my thoughts about accomodating various learners.

The recovery stage after performance was greatly reviewed and I learned specific recovery drinks/snacks that are most optimal after performance. Here is a letter to parents discussing the importance of the recovery stage of activity for swimmers. This was developed in KIN 856- Physical Bases of Coaching Athletes.

Good Form Running, Windows Movie Maker, Summer 2013
Teaching School Subject Matter with Technology was informative, accessible, exciting and all saved on a Wiki site. One of our final assignments was to create a video and record with a voice over.
